Discover 5,000 years of artistic expression at one of the world’s great art museums.  Journey through art  from all over the world as you enjoy paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, photographs, videos, textiles, and architectural works. Among the extraordinary collection are  Hopper’s Nighthawks, Cassatt’s moving The Child’s Bath and Wood’s celebrated American Gothic, installed with loans from the Terra Foundation for American Art Collection. The internationally acclaimed collection of French Impressionism and Postimpressionism includes works by Degas, Gauguin, Monet, Renoir, and van Gogh, plus Seurat’s great masterpiece A Sunday on La Grande Jatte–1884. You'll also find distinguished collections of modern and contemporary art; extensive galleries of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean art; and impressive collections of American and European decorative arts. The 68 captivating Thorne Miniature Rooms are a favorite of all ages.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:30 am–4:30 pm;
Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am–5:00 pm
The Art Institute is also open until 8:00 pm on Thursdays but regular admission price applies.

Indiana toll road (90) to Chicago Skyway to Dan Ryan Expressway (90, 94) to
Congress East (Loop exit). East on Congress to Congress Plaza (first light
east of Michigan Avenue.) North (left turn) on congress Plaza, which merges
with Michigan Avenue. North on Michigan Avenue to Adams.

FROM SOUTH SUBURBS
Dan Ryan Expressway (90, 94) to Congress East (Loop exit). East to Congress
Plaza (first light east of Michigan Avenue). North (left turn) on Congress
Plaza which merges with Michigan Avenue. North on Michigan Avenue to Adams.

FROM WISCONSIN & NORTH SUBURBS
Edens Expressway (94) into Kennedy Expressway (90, 94) to Loop, exit Monroe
Street east. East to Michigan Avenue.

FROM O'HARE AIRPORT & NORTHWEST SUBURBS
Kennedy Expressway (90) to Loop, exit Monroe Street east. East to Michigan
Avenue.

FROM WEST SUBURBS
Eisenhower Expressway (290) east (290 becomes Congress Parkway in Loop) to
Congress Plaza (first light east of Michigan Avenue). North left turn) on
Congress Plaza which merges with Michigan Avenue to Adams.

FROM SOUTHWEST SUBURBS
Stevenson Expressway (55) to Lake Shore Drive (41). North to Jackson Blvd.
West on Jackson (left turn) to Michigan Ave. North on Michigan to Adams.
