Palmer House HiltonPalmer House Hilton Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) The Palmer House Hilton is a famous and historic hotel in downtown Chicago built in 1871 but burned down just thirteen days later in the Great Chicago Fire. Rebuilt and completed in 1875, it was widely advertised as the "World's only Fire Proof Hotel". Famous visitors included Ulysses S. Grant, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, and Sarah Berhnardt.
