At the Chicago History Museum, artifacts, documents, paintings, and re-creations of scenes and people bring to life the history of Chicago.   Galleries highlight pioneer life, the Chicago Fire, architecture, politics, Chicago's great world's fairs and more.  The museum is also home to a world-renowned costume and textile collection, as well as a large collection of artifacts from the life and presidency of Abraham Lincoln. The Chicago History Museum offers three two-hour walking tours:

Gold Coast
Stroll Astor Street historic district’s opulent mansions and elegant town homes and hear fascinating stories of the neighborhood’s residents including the McCormicks, Wrigleys, and Palmers.

Old Town
This landmark neighborhood—which features beautifully restored Victorian frame cottages, Queen Anne-style homes, and early examples of balloon-frame architecture— also includes structures that survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

Lincoln Park
Immerse yourself in the history and beauty of this famous recreation area on this two-mile walk through Lincoln Park’s numerous gardens and past statues of William Shakespeare, Benjamin Franklin, and Abraham Lincoln.

By car: Lake Shore Drive or the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) to North
Avenue exit. The Museum is on the northeast corner of North Avenue
and Clark Street.
